For School Personnel

There are approximately 300,000 children in public schools who have epilepsy. As an employer in the school system it will undoubtedly touch your life at some time. The Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey has many resources available to the schools at no cost.

We have many informative pamphlets that can be mailed to your school explaining epilepsy, first aid procedures, medications, and learning problems associated with epilepsy.

A training can be provided for school personnel that will cover seizure types and first aid.

Managing Students with Seizures is a comprehensive 3.5 hour training for school nurses.

Take Charge of the Facts is a middle school program is available which explains epilepsy and dispel myths.

A fifth grade program, Thinking About Epilepsy, introduces epilepsy and seizure first aid in hopes of increasing knowledge and promoting tolerance.

Various forms such as a seizure action plan are available.  These forms will aid in communication between the home and school.
