    Shore Walk for a Brighter Tomorrow

    Glow Walk Run 5k and Family Fun Day

    5:00 pmLiberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ

    Join the Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey as we raise awareness and dollars to provide education, recreation, and support to individuals living with epilepsy in New Jersey.

    Family Fun Walk
    The Glow Walk will be held in the early evening at 5:00pm on October 18, at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey. Children and adults are encouraged to wear costumes, as there will be trick or treating at the rest stops along the walk route.

    5K Run
    This sanctioned 5k run will be held following the walk, where participants will be treated to a beautiful, panoramic view of the New York City skyline during the final moments of daylight and through the evening hours.

    In addition to the walk/run, the event will also feature live music, glow in the dark games and activities, informational exhibits and more. All activities will be free to families who register. We hope to see you there!

School Nurse Training: Managing Students with Seizures

This 3 hour long training is designed to provide resources and supplementary materials that will assist the school nurse with better managing and supporting students with seizures and epilepsy. The training will also prepare the school nurse to educate their school personnel about epilepsy.

This training is now available online for your convenience!

Seniors & Seizures

Seniors & Seizures is a 1 hour long training designed for Adult Day Center staff to recognize seizure activity and provide appropriate seizure first aid. The training is intended to identify the differences between seniors with other diagnosis’ (Alzheimer’s & Dementia) and epilepsy.

School Personnel

Designed specifically for school personnel, this 1 hour long training program teaches seizure recognition and first aid. The training provides essential information for anyone working with students with epilepsy in a social and academic atmosphere.

Thinking About Epilepsy

Thinking About Epilepsy educates fifth graders on recognizing different types of seizures and teaching appropriate seizure first aid. A goal of the program is to reduce stigma attached to epilepsy. This training is done on a class by class basis, rather than in an assembly fashion.

Heads Up For Safety

Aimed towards younger students, this helmet safety program teaches the importance of utilizing a bicycle helmet to reduce the risk of brain injury. This is a 30 minute program for grade levels K-3. Click here for more information.

Take Charge

This program is an epilepsy awareness program targeting teenagers in middle and high school. It is designed to take place in one class period. This is an effort to educate teens, dispel myths and reduce the perceived stigma associated with epilepsy.

First Responders: EMS Personnel Training

This training, about 60 minutes in length, describes a variety of seizures associated with epilepsy, seizures with other potential causes, appropriate EMS response on scene, and issues to be considered when determining whether or not further medical care is warranted.

Law Enforcement: Epilepsy and Seizure Response for Law Enforcement

This presentation, about 45 minutes in length, aims to train law enforcement on seizure recognition, correct response to seizures, and awareness of the unique needs of people with epilepsy who might be taken into police custody.
